William Henry Jones, Age 32

Private, 42817, 16th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers.

William was the son of William & Martha of Old Park, Dawley but was living at 18 Hinds Street, Bury, with his wife Ethel at the time of his enlistment.

He was killed in Action on the 3rd April 1918 and lies buried at the Quesnoy Farm Military Cemetery in Grave A.14

Extra info William married Ethel Pearson in the second quarter of 1910, on the 1911 census they had a daughter Elsie, William was working as a builder’s labourer and his wife was working as a cotton weaver.

William’s pension was paid to Ethel who by now was living at 82, Wellington Street, Bury.

Inscription added to head stone by: Mrs. Ethel Jones, 18 Hinds Street., Elton, Bury.
